Home-Delivered Lunches

THIS PROGRAM IS A VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

J-Sei’s friendly volunteer drivers deliver hot, nutritious Japanese lunches Monday through Friday to older adults who are unable to shop or prepare their own meals. We also deliver meals to older adults who are recovering from an injury or illness and have a short term need for this service. Frozen meals are available to provide older adults with extra meals to accommodate healthy eating on the weekends.

    On-Site Nutrition Program

THIS PROGRAM IS A VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Food is more than a way to simply feed our bodies. Food nurtures our well-being and for J-Sei older adults, hot, nutritious Japanese lunches are a source of daily enjoyment and socialization. A group of older adults gathers at 11:30am on every Thursday in our Emeryville location for this traditional lunch, oftentimes before or after a Senior Center class. Balanced nutrition is important; therefore each lunch provides 1/3 of the required daily allotments of Vitamin A and C.

    Food Pantry

Accessing healthy and nutritious food can be a challenge for many seniors. Thanks to our partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank and Berkeley Food Network we are able to provide supplemental grocery items to individuals and families in need. Individuals can choose the food items that they would like based on what we have available. We stock mostly non-perishable and nutritious food items that are easy for seniors to prepare and eat.

Our pantry is located at our center, 1285 66th St., Emeryville. Seniors enrolled in our home-delivered lunch program can choose to have items delivered directly to their homes on a monthly basis.
