J-Sei At The Movies (on Zoom)

Friday, May 10th,  6:30 pm

J-Sei Movie Night in the Living Room continues. Inspired by responses from our year-end poll, we’re extending an open invitation to anyone who would like to select and host a movie for us to watch and discuss.

Our next guest hosts will be Dan and Colleen Hirano, who have selected Sansho the Bailiff (1954) directed by Mizoguchi Kenji. More details: Starring Mizoguchi’s muse, Tanaka Kinuyo, as a mother in feudal Japan separated from her son and daughter and their brutal treatment, this classic film is considered one of the finest examples of Japan’s Golden Age of Cinema.

Please join us with your RSVP to Jill (jill@j-sei.org) with “May movie night” in the subject line. And if you’d like to select a film and host our moderator, let us know!
